OpenAI acquired German startup Ona to better handle growing demand for its coding tool, Codex. The vendor — based in the German city of Kiel and formerly known as Gitpod — has developed a platform that enables agents to perform tasks over a lengthy period of time in a cloud environment, rather than being restricted to operating only when their developer’s workstation is on, as is often the case. The need for agents that are constantly working has arisen from the growth of Codex, which OpenAI says is now being used by more than five million people every week.In a statement, OpenAI…
Benefits Potential Benefits of Ceramides Simply put, ceramides are all-star moisturizers. “These lipidlike molecules add moisture and restore the skin’s barrier function,” says Kenneth Mark, MD , a cosmetic dermatologist based in New York and Colorado. They’re also great for anyone interested in keeping their skin looking as young as possible. Research suggests that ceramides can help with these concerns. Alaska’s glaciers are highly sensitive to rising temperatures. According to new research using satellite radar observations, every 1 degree Celsius increase in average summer temperatures extends glacier melting by roughly three weeks. A single degree Celsius equals 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit. The study also demonstrates that synthetic aperture radar (SAR) can automatically and consistently monitor glaciers and their snowlines throughout the year. Traditionally, snowlines are usually measured only near the end of the melt season using optical instruments. Researchers found that SAR provides more dependable data than conventional surface-based optical methods. The findings were published in Nature. The study was led…

A federal judge in Virginia has extended an order blocking the Trump administration’s nearly $1.8bn slush fund, saying the administration’s public statements that the fund was dead were not assuring enough. The US district judge Leonie Brinkema, an appointee of Bill Clinton, said she would lift her order if the acting attorney general, Todd Blanche, and the treasury secretary, Scott Bessent, filed a declaration under penalty of perjury that the fund was not moving forward in the next week. The fund caused immediate bipartisan outrage when it was announced last month as part of a settlement between the IRS and Donald Trump…
A federal judge on Friday barred the Trump administration until further notice from setting up a $1.8 billion fund to compensate people claiming to have been unfairly prosecuted by the government, saying that her order was needed because of mixed messages about the scheme from President Trump. The ruling by the judge, Leonie M. Brinkema, was the strongest effort to date by anyone in government to hold the administration to its word that the proposal to create the fund had actually been set aside. While Todd Blanche, the acting attorney general, told Congress last week that the fund would not move…

Changing temperatures and, more significantly, rainfall patterns are expanding the geographical range and transmission dynamics of climate-sensitive diseases such as Malaria, Dengue fever, Cholera and other vector- and water-borne diseases.Climate-induced droughts, floods,…
